I understand that there's been some fixes to c-stick performance with recent versions of steam and that the c-stick is essentially useless but that's the price I pay for using the steam link. The problem is you need to have the latest version of steam to use this controller with and only PS3's since Sony has the only c-stick usb drivers available for linux. I don't really want to buy another PS3 just to play some of my favorite games and I don't want to use a keyboard and mouse just to play some of my favorite games. (I'm not like all other people who can't possibly play the systems without the keyboard and mouse)
Sorry but this is a quality issue for me, at least from what I understand the steam link is proprietary and is not designed to be used with a generic usb bluetooth device rather than a proper steam link adapter. I've tried to use a dongle for months and even tried a different one but neither worked for me. If I can't use a generic dongle then I'm going to have to find a way to get one of the proper steam link adapters and most of them cost at least $30. If you can get a generic one then I will be impressed.
You could also try using the steam link to stream your desktop using steam on a different pc (if you have one) but i'm not sure how good that would work for the ps3 controller but it might work okay?
It's very very bad for me though, I am a controller user and have been for decades and now I'm stuck with using a mouse and keyboard again and I couldn't even use a second monitor with the steam link because even though I could see the window I couldn't interact with it.
i have a desktop machine with a USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port. it has an mSATA slot aswell which i could probably use to plug the steam link into. i have a laptop aswell with an mSATA slot and a USB 3.0 port and i have a desktop with a USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port. i also have a usb 3.0 port on the motherboard of my desktop machine.
high latency is really bad. i can use it with steam on the same computer without problems, but i cannot use my wireless controller. i could have my friend try and connect the controller to his pc and then play with me but if i have to ask him to do that for each game i play it isnt worth it
For the time being it's a waste of money, but i have been holding off to get all the info i can before buying a steam controller. Now that I have this issue I'm going to try it with the wired gamepads.
The error is obviously with the updated client code, in particular the SteamHelper's OnConnect function. If you run an older version of the steam link client, the problem would not happen. The newer version will still work perfectly fine and allow you to use your vr wheel with the steam link. It's just that now when you connect the steam link to your computer, the virtual here feature is no longer supported.
I have a USB adapter (Logitech C120) hooked up to my computer. It is also paired and connected to the steam link. I can't seem to get the headset to work through steam. When I press the audio button on the headset, I am still able to hear the sound through my computer. When I press play on the headset, I get the error message. 827ec27edc
