This study was conducted to establish descriptive sensory analysis procedures and sensory profiles for iron and copper as well as to compare the results obtained from 2 approaches, a psychophysical measurement using a generalized labeled magnitude scale (gLMS) (PLMS) and an applied descriptive analysis using a 15-point categorical scale (DCAT). During DCAT, bitter taste, sour taste, electric sensation, astringency, and rusty nail flavor, as well as aftertastes of bitter taste, rusty nail, and astringency, were developed as descriptors. Copper was characterized by a strong bitter taste and astringency, whereas iron had a strong rusty nail flavor. Both DCAT and PLMS produced similar sensory profiles and relationships between perceived intensity and physical stimuli for iron and copper. However, ratings obtained from PLMS had larger variance than those from DCAT. The practical implications of the larger variance by PLMS should be further examined in future studies.
Though hardly in the same league as filmmaker John Dahl's previous jaunts into thriller territory - ie 1992's Red Rock West, 1994's The Last Seduction, etc - Joy Ride ultimately comes off as a sporadically uneven yet thoroughly entertaining B-movie that boasts a number of genuinely exhilarating sequences and set-pieces. Paul Walker stars as Lewis Thomas, a straight-laced college student who agrees to a cross-country trip after a friend (Leelee Sobieski's Venna) reveals that she doesn't have a ride home. Lewis' plans take a hit after his troublesome brother (Steve Zahn's Fuller) tags along for the journey, with the siblings' decision to taunt a psychotic trucker (Ted Levine's Rusty Nail) eventually resulting in an increasingly deadly game of cat and mouse. It's worth noting that Joy Ride is never quite as predictable as one might've anticipated, as screenwriters Clay Tarver and J.J. Abrams prove fairly adept at confounding the viewer's expectations at virtually every turn - something that's particularly true of the mid-film stretch in which it seems as though the threat has been neutralized. There's consequently little doubt that the tension level does tend to ebb and flow throughout the proceedings, which admittedly ensures that the three central figures are afforded plenty of character-building sequence (ie there reaches a point at which one can't help but root for their survival). In addition to Levine's chilling voice work as Rusty Nail, Joy Ride undoubtedly benefits from the inclusion of an unexpectedly enthralling climax - which proves instrumental in cementing the movie's place as an above-average contemporary thriller.

Noted harmonica ace Mark Hummel lets his harp do most of the heavy lifting on Harpbreaker (Electro Fi Records), an all-instrumental album with the song selection coming from various previously-released albums, unreleased sessions, and a few new cuts. But the listener is also treated to some mighty fine guitar slingers, with a significant array of Hall of Fame caliber players on the album, including Anson Funderburgh, Little Charlie Baty, Billy Flynn, Rusty Zinn, Chris \"Kid\" Andersen, among others.
I realize that all-instrumental albums aren't always for everyone, but Harpbreaker does the trick for harmonica buffs, especially if you like hearing the instrument treated like it's part of a big band jazz ensemble. Recommended.
\"Ya think ya got the blues Mark Hummel really gives it to you on \"Harpbreaker\", a delightful assortment of blues harmonica instrumentals that are guaranteed to make harpsters go - \"Unbelievable!\". Not merely a master of the 10 holes, Mark Hummel's wizardy on the chromatic leaves the listener with no doubt that he can really blow in every position. Hats off to this West Coast blues great for delivering another awesome record that sounds tough as nails.\" - Aki Kumar
As the verses rely on a simplistic instrumental centred around reverbing synths and percussions, the singer, too, engages his mid- and low-range vocals to match the softened energy. Conversely, when the pre-chorus builds up to a dramatic instrumental featuring synth-trumpets, staccato drum beats, and heavier percussions, Changmin enters his higher range, upping the energy level, and making the production thrillingly theatrical. 781b155fdc
