But at least if you have snow leopard and you want to install Mac you can do it. But if you want to install the Base OS, you're out of luck. You can install a base OS, but you can't update it after it's installed.
Also, as I mentioned, you don't need to use boot flags -v -x. That's just a way to show you everything it's doing. The actual install is silent, and you don't need the boot flags for the installer to work. If you need to remove it before doing the install, you can uninstall the bootloader, or update the image, and it will ask if you want to reinstall it. You don't need to remove it, or update the bootloader, if you want to install with the bootflags -v -x, you just don't need the bootloader, and can just install like normal.
I know you can get the ISOs from Apple.com directly, but I believe they are under a Community license, and not public domain or Creative Commons, so you will need a developer account to get them, and they are relatively massive files, and will take some work to download.
If you're on a mac, you can boot into the recovery partition and then run the installer, or you can remove the bootloader, but again, that means you're going to need to reinstall the bootloader. If you remove the bootloader, you'll need to reinstall it, otherwise you won't see the new boot options for the bootloader - you'll just get a black screen and have to start over.
Also, i'm a.NET developer, my focus is on Windows,.NET, and related frameworks/tools. If you want a desktop app instead of a VM, check out VirtualBox. If you want a Ubuntu machine with more out of the box support, check out Ubuntu .
Mac OS X 10.6.8 is an unsupported version of Mac OS X, and is not guaranteed to work with any hardware. If you're having issues installing the latest update from Apple, try using an older version of Mac OS X, or get your computer fixed.
iBoot doesn't use any of the disk images I mentioned, it only uses the BIOS on the hard drive for everything. the boot flag is mostly used for post-installation on firmware, which means if iBoot can't even boot your hard drive, you're out of luck. the boot flag -x and -v are used for booting the bootloader, meaning if you can't boot your system from the bootloader, you're out of luck.
There are two different things you're trying to do with the boot flag that are mutually exclusive. You're trying to boot from the bootloader, and you're trying to boot from the bootloader to install a different operating system. Both of those require the bootflag to be set in the MBR.
