Hello fellow writers,
I recently published my first book, and I’m struggling to figure out how to market it effectively. I’ve heard that companies like Barter. Books Publishers offer affordable Book Marketing services, but I’m unsure if I should go that route or try to do everything myself.
What are the best strategies for someone just starting? Should I focus on social media, email lists, or maybe even in-person events like book signings? I feel overwhelmed with all the advice out there.
If you’ve been in my shoes, I’d love to hear your recommendations and what worked best for you. Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated!
One thing I’ve noticed is that personalized marketing seems to work well. For example, authors in my genre have built engaged communities by sharing behind-the-scenes content and interacting with readers. I recently saw a discussion about Buy Kate's Cowboy by Michigan Author Sue Wilbur, and it got me thinking about how targeted recommendations and niche marketing can make a difference. Do you think focusing on genre-specific groups and forums is a good strategy?
