Microsoft FrontPage (full name Microsoft Office FrontPage) is a discontinued WYSIWYG HTML editor and website administration tool from Microsoft for the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems. It was branded as part of the Microsoft Office suite from 1997 to 2003. Microsoft FrontPage has since been replaced by Microsoft Expression Web and SharePoint Designer, which were first released in December 2006 alongside Microsoft Office 2007, but these two products were also discontinued in favor of a web-based version of SharePoint Designer, as those three HTML editors were desktop applications.
FrontPage used to require a set of server-side plugins originally known as IIS Extensions. The extension set was significantly enhanced for Microsoft inclusion of FrontPage into the Microsoft Office line-up with Office 97 and subsequently renamed FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSE). Both sets of extensions needed to be installed on the target web server for its content and publishing features to work. Microsoft offered both Windows and Unix-based versions of FPSE. FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions worked with earlier versions of FrontPage as well. FPSE 2002 was the last released version which also works with FrontPage 2003 and was later updated for IIS 6.0 as well. However, with FrontPage 2003, Microsoft began moving away from proprietary Server Extensions to standard protocols like FTP and WebDAV for remote web publishing and authoring.[6] FrontPage 2003 can also be used with Windows SharePoint Services.
Unsurprisingly, the FPSE are also supplied with FrontPage. Most notably, FrontPage 2002 supplies the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions as an update for the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions that may already be present if installing on Windows 2000 or Windows XP. The FrontPage 2002 CD also contains, in a separate directory with its own setup program, something called Windows SharePoint Services (version 2.1), which is notable here because it also includes the executables of the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions. For the purposes of this note, Windows SharePoint Services are FrontPage Server Extensions by another name.
The FrontPage Server Extensions are not supplied with Windows Vista and are not supplied with Expression Web. Microsoft distributes the Windows SharePoint Services (version 3.0 Service Pack 1 as late as December 2008) as a free download, but the package does not install on Windows Vista. At least for users of Windows Vista, the FrontPage Server Extensions seem to have had their day.
Two years later, Microsoft launched an Express version with a cut-down user interface, and Microsoft marketed both as editors to create content that could be viewed in Internet Explorer. FrontPage was bundled with Microsoft Office 2000 and Office XP, alongside key products like PowerPoint and Word.
Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 RTM, and Windows Server 2008 R2 do not provide built-in options to install the FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSE). Microsoft realizes that the FrontPage Server Extensions are essential to many Web hosting companies and developers, and has worked with Ready-to-Run Software, Inc., to release versions of the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions (FPSE 2002) for IIS 7 and above. These versions of FPSE 2002 are available for x86 (32-bit) and x64 (64-bit) versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 as separate download packages, and you can download these versions of FPSE by clicking the following URLs:
After you have downloaded the correct FPSE 2002 installation package, you need to make sure that you install the FrontPage Server Extensions using full administrative permissions. This is best accomplished using one of two methods:
Microsoft FrontPage, version 2000 or newer, supports Visual BasicĀ® for Applications that we can utilize for integrating HTML Tidy into the menu system. A simple menu activation will clean/tidy your web document.
FrontPage 2000 makes it easier than ever for individuals or teams to keep their Web site up-to-date and running smoothly. And because Web sites can grow to thousands of pages with multiple content contributors, FrontPage 2000 also delivers new collaboration features that build on the remote, multiuser authoring capabilities featured in version 1.0.
The Czar of sprints, who holds the world record in 50m freestyle ( 21.64 seconds), won gold medals in the 50 and 100 metre freestyle events at the 1992 (Barcelona) Olympics and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. When he took the gold in Atlanta, he became the first man since Johnny Weissmuller in 1928 to defend the 100 crown, and he is the only man to twice triumph in the 50. At the Sydney Olympics (2000), Popov was on the verge of a hat-trick of Olympics golds in the 50 and 100 m freestyle, but had to be content with a second spot and a silver, finishing behind, Pieter van den Hoogenband of Netherlands who won the 100 m freestyle with 48.30 seconds while Popov finished with silver in 48.69 and he ended up in sixth place in the 50 freestyle, clocking 22.24. But Popov was back on course as he hacked the field at the 2003 World Championship (Barcelona) to win his fourth and fifth crowns. It was especially gratifying to Popov to do so at the same venue, where he won his first Olympic title. 2b1af7f3a8
